brianeyremusic Website ABOUT B-W Guitar v1.8

I am a Modern Fingerstyle guitar player and composer.  I started off as an electric lead player in bands doing mainly original material, I wrote, sometimes sang and did lots of arranging and, of course, played lead guitar.

Everything changed when I met a particular colleague who I heard was a guitar player.  I asked him what kind of material he played. He said “Fingerstyle”.  I’m a little embarrassed now to say that up until that point I had never even heard the term. So I asked him, “you mean like, fingerpicking?”.  He laughed and said “Ha! kind of…”. Once I started exploring it and heard what was possible, I WAS HOOKED!!

It’s been on a wonderful musical journey exploring the breadth of what “kind of” means: precision, harmonics, slapping, hammer on, etc… I’ve been influenced by so many great fingerstyle players, but especially Andy McKee, Michael Hedges, Don Ross, Antoine Dufour, Trevor Gordon Hall and Will Ackerman just to name a few. I like creating songs that are both melodic and rhythmic, while throwing in a few good harmonic twists and turns along the way.

I hope you enjoy!!

Tuning Selection

In my case, tunings are a big part of the writing process and a new tuning is almost like a new instrument.  I try to stick with a particular tuning long enough to write at least 3 or 4 compositions to avoid having an orphan tuning (a one song tuning).  Although I use a number of other tunings, I tried to represent a sampling of the main ones on these albums.

Guitar is such an incredible instrument: portability, tone, tuning options, and much more.  The possibilities are almost endless…

What to Say About Gear?

So far I have kept it pretty simple.  Playing live I use a Walrus Audio SLO reverb pedal through a Fishman Loudbox Mini, for most venues.  The gear listed here is mostly the notable elements of the signal chain for recording, flowing through a MacBook Pro M1 running Logic Pro X.

All the Releases for Ten Piece Puzzle I recorded in my studio and then sent to the amazing Antoine Dufour for mixing and mastering.
