Modern Fingerstyle Guitar
Ten Piece Puzzle is my second studio album. The theme of the record reflects the process of creating these tracks. When I am writing, it usually starts off with a riff I find that captures my attention, like I’m getting a hint. Then the process is to puzzle through discovering the rest of the song, working through all the details, until finally it’s all worked out. It’s like I am receiving the song as a gift. But the purpose of the gift is not for me to keep. It’s a gift to be shared with people. There are ten such puzzles on this record. I sincerely hope you enjoy them!!
All Songs written and performed by Brian Eyre

Where Does It Come From? was inspired by the late great Michael Hedges. At Andy McKee’s Musicarium 3 years ago, an entire night was dedicated to Michael Hedges, who has greatly influenced so many of us modern fingerstyle guitar players. What a great night! When I got home, I was so inspired I sat down and started writing this song. Really hope you enjoy this one!!
Also, I want to thank my long time friend, photographer (and guitar player!) Michael Moore for collaborating on the cover artwork.
And last, but not least a big thank you to Antoine Dufour who mixed and mastered this track.
Every Living Thing is a reminder that we are all living things created to be here now. Let’s do it well for every living thing now and those who will come after. It’s the second release from a ten song project called Ten Piece Puzzle. I composed, played and recorded the songs. Then each was sent to Antoine Dufour Studios for mixing and mastering. Antoine did an absolutely outstanding job with the mix and master!!
Cover artwork: The photo in the image inside and behind the word “Living” was shot in Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC. (on vacation)
Still more to come…hope you enjoy!!!
Working the Clock is the first release from a ten song project called Ten Piece Puzzle. I composed, played and recorded the songs. Then each was sent to Antoine Dufour Studios for mixing and mastering. Antoine did an absolutely outstanding job with the mix and master!!
Cover artwork: My very artistic wife created the backgrounds. And a big thank you to Twitter friend Martin Jonathan who suggested the concept of the cover. I just kind of put it all together.
So there is more coming…hope you enjoy!!!
You may be wondering why this record is called “Study Of Hands”. As a fingerstyle player, you spend endless hours studying your instrument …with your hands. Then each new song is a study unto itself, much as an artist makes “studies” of paintings before committing the work to final canvas. This record is a result of that kind of study.
But first, each of us were given the gift of the set of hands we have, and in some cases they come with the gift of being able to create and play music for people. This is a gift that is as much for others as it is for ourselves. I wholly thank God for this gift. It’s a gift you can use your entire life. And I am honored and very grateful to all who hear this music.
